AIA NH 2010 Excellence in Architecture Awards Honor Award
The town of Windham, New Hampshire created this new high school in 2009 for its 800+ students who had previously attended high school in a neighboring town.
With sitework already underway, the design team completed programming, design, and construction documentation with an extremely compressed schedule.
The strong angular geometry of the entrance canopy and roof forms welcomes students into a light-filled atrium punctuated with colorful geometrical accents. This "Main Street" connects the classroom wings, auditorium, gym, and cafeteria as a lively forum for interaction and socialization.
